Five Things I Would Change About My Wedding (And Truly Nothing Else)
Not regrets. Just the little things I'd tweak after living through the most beautiful day
I got married on Lake Como over three days, which is a sentence I now get to say out loud, as though it were a normal thing that happens to a person on a Tuesday. There was a welcome cocktail, a Saturday ceremony that dissolved into a party, and a goodbye brunch that nobody actually wanted to say goodbye at. It was the most magical weekend of my life. I need to say that first, and mean it fully, because everything that follows is footnotes. Fine print at the bottom of a contract I would sign again tomorrow, twice, in worse handwriting.
Every fear I carried for months (the weather, the nerves, the sense that something would go sideways, maybe my family would bicker) simply did not show up. What did show up were five very small, very human things I would gently amend. Not regrets. More like notes I am leaving for the version of me who marries Filippo again in another life, or for you, if you are the one getting married next.
